Time for a visit to the Botanical Gardens in Utrecht.

Tickets are required, get yours here in advance. Full price is Euro 8,50. Free entrance with museumcard and other discounts could apply, read here.

Great opportunity to use your macro lenses. Photography for personal use is allowed, commercial photography needs a permit in advance; read more on their website.

We will meet in front of the main entrance and enter the gardens at 11:00 AM. The gardens close at 16:30 so stay as long as you wish.

The meetup could be cancelled or moved to another date if the weather turns out to be too rainy. The end time is an estimate only; the length of the actual meetup could be different from posted.

Utrecht University Botanic Gardens provides a perfect setting for photography and film. Read more about the possibilities and conditions for (professional) photographers and filmmakers.

Taking pictures or filming for personal use is allowed in the Gardens. Please do try to leave room for other visitors, especially in our Greenhouses. Hence, try to avoid the use of tripods in busy areas.

General guidelines for photography and filmmaking

  • Please buy your tickets in advance or pay at the entrance (entrance fees are included for commercial shoots).
  • As to not disturb our visitors, it is not possible to reserve or close off a section of the Gardens or Greenhouses.
  • The use of balloons, confetti and similar items is not allowed.
  • The use of drones for aerial photography is not allowed.
  • Always keep other visitors in mind, and be sure not to block paths.
  • It is not allowed to photograph other visitors.
  • Toilets or similar rooms are not to be used as a dressing room or for make-up; a separate room should be rented to accommodate this.
  • Always follow the instructions of garden staff.
  • It is not allowed to stand or place tripods in between plants, in beds and borders, or generally outside footpaths.

Helaas laten we op dit moment geen fotoshoots in de tropische kassen toe. Er is gebleken dat dit de laatste tijd tot teveel oponthoud en last zorgt voor overige bezoekers.

Het filmen en fotograferen voor privégebruik is toegestaan in de Botanische Tuinen. In de Kassen, met name in de Vlinderkas, vragen wij je wel om ruimte te laten voor andere bezoekers en dus niet uitgebreid met een statief te fotograferen of filmen.

Algemene voorwaarden fotografie en film:

  • Boek je entreetickets vooraf of betaal per pin aan de kassa.
  • Onze bezoekers zijn door de gehele tuin te vinden. Het is daarom niet mogelijk om een gedeelte van de Tuinen af te huren of af te zetten.
  • Het is niet toegestaan gebruik te maken van middelen voor speciale effecten die in de tuin achter blijven zoals confetti en ballonnen.
  • Het gebruik van drones is niet toegestaan.
  • Houd altijd rekening met andere bezoekers en zorg voor een vrije doorloop.
  • Het is niet toegestaan om andere bezoekers te fotograferen.
  • Het is niet toegestaan om in de toiletten om te kleden of op te maken, hiervoor kan een aparte ruimte gehuurd worden.
  • Volg altijd de aanwijzingen van het aanwezig tuinpersoneel op.
  • Het is niet toegestaan om tussen de planten te staan of een statief tussen de planten op te stellen.
  • Bij publicatie verzoeken wij om vermelding van Botanische Tuinen Universiteit Utrecht, of tag ons op Instagram of Facebook.
