About the photowalks

  • The photowalks start at the posted time. Try to be there early, but if you are running late… just find us. The live location of the group (via Google Maps) will be shared in our WhatsApp and Signal groups. A link to join the groups can be requested by direct message.
  • If you register for a photowalk and you can not make it, please update your RSVP!
  • A photowalk could be cancelled or postponed in case of really bad weather.
  • The end time is an estimate only; the length of the actual walk could be different from posted.
  • Check before you go if all your equipment is working properly; lens cleaned, batteries charged, memory cards empty.
  • Come prepared: wear comfortable shoes, bring water and a snack, check the weather forecast – and don’t forget your camera.
  • The organisation is not responsible for any personal injury, loss, or damage to personal property during the photowalk. Participants are advised to have appropriate (travel/liability) insurance.
  • During the walk, pay attention to your surroundings, traffic, curbs and people.
  • Be respectful of residents, their property and privacy.

And finally:

  • Any type of camera is welcome.
  • If taking pictures or making photos gives you joy, you are more than welcome!

Community guidelines

To keep this a seriously fun and respectful place for everyone, we ask all members to follow a few simple guidelines:

  1. Use Your Real Name
We’re all about real people, real connections. Please use your real name. It makes things more personal and friendly, as well as adding some accountability.
  2. Be Kind and Respectful
Treat everyone with respect, regardless of experience level, background, or gear. Feedback is welcome, just keep it constructive and friendly.
  3. Keep It Relevant
Use the right space for the right things:
Post things where they make sense: chats can go in the general chat or the event specific chats, event photos may go in the event page, etc.
When posting a photowalk or other event, make sure all the details are in there.
This helps everyone find what they’re looking for and keeps conversations meaningful.
  4. No Promotion or Spam
Please don’t use photographymeetup.com to promote your products or services, or social media unless you’re invited to do so. We want to keep the focus on community and photography.
  5. You Agree to Our Code of Conduct
By being part of this community, you agree to follow our Code of Conduct. It sets the standard for how we show up and take care of one another, online and offline.

N.B. Not following these guidelines may result in warnings, temporary removal from events or online groups, or permanent removal from photographymeetup.com

SAFETY

This is important. When signing up for a photowalk, you are agreeing to meet people you may not have met before. Please take appropriate precautions, make sure someone knows where you are going and who you are meeting. Have a mobile phone with you and make sure it is fully charged. Try to connect with the organizer and other attendees via social media before the walk and get to know who you will be meeting.

As per the terms of service that was agreed to when becoming a member of photographymeetup.com, this site cannot be held responsible for the interactions that happen in the real world, it is your own responsibility to take the correct precautions.

General Note

Inappropriate or abusive behavior from any party will not be tolerated and will result in the banning from this site. We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and welcoming space for all members. Please report any incidents of inappropriate or abusive behavior by sending an email to info@photographymeetup.com and it will be dealt with as quickly as possible.

Code of conduct

We’re here to create a fun, inclusive, and inspiring environment where everyone feels welcome and respected.
Whether you’re a community member, an organizer, or a guest at one of our events, by taking part in our community or events in any way, you explicitly agree to the following principles that shape our community.

  1. We include everyone, regardless of background, experience, or gear
At photographymeetup.com, we celebrate diversity and welcome all identities, backgrounds, and skill levels. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, you belong here. No fancy gear required—just passion, kindness, and a love for photography.
  2. Our community is for adults only (18+)
To ensure the safety and suitability of our events, we require all members and participants to be 18 years or older. Some of our events may take place at locations where alcohol is served or in settings intended for adults, so we want to make sure that everyone is comfortable and safe. Our community and in-person events are designed specifically for adults.
  3. We treat each other with respect
Everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and heard. We listen to each other, speak kindly, and celebrate our differences. Discrimination, harassment, or hate of any kind has no place here.
  4. We look out for one another
At events, online or offline, we support each other. We check in, lend a hand, and step up if someone needs help. If something doesn’t feel right, we speak up or reach out to the organizers.
  5. We give each other space and ask before sharing photos
Respect personal boundaries. Always ask before someone’s up close portrait, and be mindful of personal space, especially in group settings.
  6. We contribute to a positive atmosphere
Show up with good vibes. Encourage others, share your enthusiasm, and help make our community something people look forward to being part of.
  7. We take responsibility for our actions
If we mess up, we own it and do better. This is a space where learning and growth are welcomed—for photography and for how we treat each other.
  8. Organizers take on extra responsibility
If you’re organizing any event or activity within photographymeetup.com, you take on the responsibility of upholding and ensuring these values are followed. This includes creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all participants, and addressing any issues that may arise in a timely and constructive manner.

N.B. If any of these values are not followed, we may take appropriate action to address the issue. This can include warnings, temporary removal from events or online groups, or permanent removal from photographymeetup.com. We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and welcoming space for all members, and any behavior that undermines that will not be tolerated.
