Details
This meetup is organised by Fiona and Jolanda:
The Ouwehands Dierenpark have been hosting the China Light Festival (possibly how the pandas “got in the mood” finally!). The Festival ends on 29 Feb.
We have an offer from a local historian to also do a WWII walking tour of Rhenen around the remaining structures from the battle with Germany at that time. Our guide will also tell us the key events including how the Zoo animals played an important role in helping the local militia.
Tickets for the Light Festival are €17.50 for those over 10years of age. It opens at 5pm on certain dates and we are suggesting 15 February because this is when the WWII guide is available.
WWII walk is free because the guide is Fiona’s friend 🙂
The start time is 3pm for the walk, which will start and finish at the zoo. The walk will finish around 5-6pm depending on how long people may want to take photos (there is actually a real hill with views!).

We will meetup in front of the zoo at 14:30 to gather for the walk and later again at 17:45 for the light festival.
We enter the zoo around 18:00 so be in time if you only join in the second part. We will share a google maps location sharing link in the whatsapp group on the day itself in case you are late or lose the group.
Be prepared for a little rain, bring enough food and drinks for yourself; We are uncertain how much time will be between the two events, so we don’t know if we can stop for a coffee somewhere or not.
Get your ticket in advance or buy one at the entrance.
See you all Saturday!
